Awoke one morning in Rolla, MO and while driving through town, stumbled across the Great Wall Restaurant. It's right on old Route 66. I have no idea whether the interior contains any Tiki, or not, but externally, it "felt" Tiki. In MO, you take your Tiki anywhere you can find it.

Ahhhhhh :) Tiki 'retirement'- if one doesn't mind the duck doo, the manmade lake is quite the desert tropical oasis.

OakTiki and I made a brief stop over in Richmond to explore what some have called the city's "best Chinese" (not knowing Richmond's typical level of Chinese I have no baseline for comparison). The Tiki Tiki is also apparently well known for both their food and their good and strong Dr. Funk of Tahitis. We certainly found the Tiki Tiki a wonderful experience! Although there was only one actual Tiki readily visible, other than on the mugs, there was certainly Aloha present; from fine mixology served in proper glassware and even bowls, to the small but busy bar near the back of the restaurant happily full of what appeared to be regulars. Mighty fine hospitality! And very welcoming of those who aren't regulars yet :), definitely the place to return to next time we're in that neck of the woods! You can find an illustrated version of their menu- with drink menu- here- http://www.billofare.com/1335u01.htm

Chisel Slinger and Sweet Beak's home bars and backyard just completely blew me away! Everywhere, you look, around each corner are Chisel Slinger's Tikis, each with personality and lovingly carved. Of all the home bars we've been fortunate enough to explore, theirs most reminded me of Bahooka (in L.A.), everytime you think you're seeing it, you round another corner to find MORE! (All of which makes it really difficult to express in any one photograph, so I highlighted the photo most reminicent of the mood/tone.) It's nautical, well thought through and perfectly relaxing. It is also home to numerous Kahiki artifacts; all kinds of goodies, from lamps, to a birdcage, to a bamboo fire extinguisher cover!

The much beloved Honolulu was open for more than 25 years in the VA suburbs. Master Mixologist David Chan's libations will be sorely missed! Both Richard Nixon and I agreed on at least one thing- David's Navy Grogs! For their website and forthcoming Mai Tai mix, see http://www.time2tiki.com/.

These quick snapshots were taken at the Luxurious Moai Lounge in Maryland; Scottiki and Jen's (Mr. & Mrs. Moai's) home bar. The Moai Lounge is truely, a poly-pop 'classic', one of the greats!
The attention to detail in the Moai Lounge is phenominal, from the bamboo entry bridge right down to the drink garnishes!
After having missed their grand opening, OakTiki and I were able to make their second party, aptly dubbed "Moai Lounge 2: Electric Boogaloo"!
Regretably, these pictures are from AFTER everyone had headed home for the night, so these are the 'after' pictures, not the 'before's. Plenty of evidence of mixological carnage- but no worries- just evidence a good time was had by all!
