The Shalimar is actually a really great example of how to do things right, of course doing it right takes the big bucks, not exactly a mom and pop proposition. But I guess preserving, improving in the spirit of that which was, and maintianing them is better than loosing them any day. The convention space- a rarity as these hotels go is a new addition in keeping with the rest of the design.
